Baby Chick

Supplies:

1 pound Make ’n Mold yellow candy wafers
¼ pound Make ’n Mold orange candy wafers
1 Make ’n Mold mini squeeze bottle (5106)
Make ’n Mold writer's caps (5108)
2 balloons (dark color)
Deep container
Small cup
Small, sharp knife or pin
Waxed paper-lined cookie sheet

Place waxed paper-lined cookie sheet in refrigerator. Blow up two balloons to about the size of a large apple making sure they are the same size.

Melt yellow candy wafers in deep container according to package instructions. Allow wafers to cool slightly before dipping balloon (if they are too hot, they may pop the balloon.) Holding the knot, dip the first balloon ¾ of the way into melted yellow wafers. Place balloon on waxed paper-lined cookie sheet–be sure that balloon is standing up straight before letting go. Chill 10-15 minutes. Holding the knot of the second balloon, dip ¼ of the way into melted yellow wafers to create "hat". Place balloon wafer-side up in small cup to keep the "hat" shape. Chill 10-15 minutes.

Once wafers have reached room temperature, pop balloon with sharp knife or pin. Peel ALL PIECES of the balloon from the inside of the candy piece (a dark colored balloon will be easiest to see.) Melt orange wafers in mini squeeze bottle according to package instructions and attach writer's cap. Use to draw beak, eyes, wings and feet. Chill 3-5 minutes.

Once baby chicks are finished and have reached room temperature, fill with after dinner mints, jelly beans or other small treats and place "hat" on top.
